Son of Richard Archer and Fanny Eliza Steel who were married in Byefield, Northamptonshire, on the 26th April 1893.

He was baptized on the 2nd May 1897 in Byefield, Northamptonshire.

1911 Census - Private Archer was living with his parents and siblings in Chipping Warden, Northamptonshire, he was 14 years old and working as a farm labourer.

Private Archer was wounded in France, on the 19th July 1918. He died as a result of his injuries just over eight months later at Queen Alexandra's Military Hospital, London, known colloquially as 'Millbank,' (pictured left), he was aged 22.
