Forrest Fichthorn, age 91 of Breckenridge, passed away Sunday, May 13, 2018.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Friday, May 18th at Morehart Mortuary Chapel with Otho Noggle officiating. Interment will follow in the Breckenridge Cemetery under the direction of Morehart Mortuary. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, May 17th at Morehart Mortuary.
Forrest Roland Fichthorn was born on December 11, 1926 to parents, Franklin B. Fichthorn and Blanche Greiss Fichthorn in Reading, Pennsylania.
On February 16, 2002, Forrest married Phyllis Alberta Romero in Quartz Hill, California.
He was a successful businessman in several states, owning Fichthorn Pretzel in Pennsylvania, a photography business in Des Moines, Iowa, and a flower shop in Washington.
Mr. Fichthorn was also a published author and poet, writing such publications as “Six Plus One Equals Seven”, “Poems That Edify The Church” and “The Offbeat Cookbook”.
He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, as well as the Gospel Music Artists Association and the South Texas Gospel Music Association. He arranged several Gospel concerts and was named Promoter of the Year in 2012.
In his retirement, Forrest was the owner of Meadowgreen Apartments in Breckenridge.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Franklin and Blanche Fichthorn; three brothers; one sister; one son and one grandson.
Mr. Fichthorn is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis Fichthorn; children, Donna Williams, Lois Hyde and husband Robert, both of Washington, Laura Cotolese of Pennsylvania, Lynn Oliver, Lois Smith, both of Sylmar, California, Michael Christman of Nevada, Bruce Kelly and wife Cherise, Randy Kelly and wife Ronnell, both of Sylmar, California, Gary Brooks of Lancaster, California, Kris Childs and wife Lupe of Lubbock; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
