SARAH HATTON was born near Attica, Fountain County, Indiana, April 6, 1828. She died at her home near Summit Grove January 11, 1904, age 75y 9m 5d. In early life, she joined the Christian Church, commonly called the Newlight Church, of which her parents were members.
She married October 11, 1849, E. D. JAMES and shortly after, joined the Methodist Episcopal Church of which she has been a member ever since. She was the last, except one, of the daughters, of a family of fifteen children, her youngest brother still surviving her. She was mother of six children, three of whom, two boys and a girl, preceded her to Heaven.
Her aged husband, with whom she has lived for over 54 years, and three children with their families, survive her.
The funeral occurred Tuesday at Salem Church, conducted by Rev. Mathews, after which the body was laid to rest in Helt's Prairie Cemetery, Vermillion County, Ind.
