Walter C. Bodyfelt, 78, died Tuesday. He was born in Hebo, and raised in Hebo and Salem.

He married Kathryn Edmunds in 1936; she died in 1964. He then married Edith Watts on Nov. 18, 1967, in Cloverdale.

He worked in the dairy and logging industries, in Tillamook and Washington. He lived in Seaside until 1937, when he moved to Tillamook and operated a 40-cow dairy farm until 1959. He then went on to tree farming, beef raising, and pasture rental.

He later worked as head custodian for Cloverdale Consolidated Grade School. He was an active member of Oretown Grange, and the Cloverdale Oddfellows Lodge. His hobbies included fishing and crabbing.

Survivors include his wife; sons, Floyd of Corvallis, Robert and E. Richard, both of Tigard, George of Cloverdale, and Larry of Rock Springs, Wyo.; stepdaughters, Marla Williams of Beaverton, Melba Wagner of Imbler, and Deanna Robinson of Newberg; stepsons, Douglas Watts of Hillsboro and Bob Watts of Kenaii, Alaska; 33 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Services will begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the Pacific City Presbyterian Church. Vault interment will follow in Sunset Heights Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Waud's mortuary. Contributions may be made to the church in care of the mortuary.
