Ralph Jr. was the son of Ralph Pulitzer, an American heir, newspaper publisher and author. He was the grandson of Joseph Pulitzer. Hungarian born József Pulitzer. His grandfather was a Hungarian-American politician and newspaper publisher of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and the New York World.

Ralph married Bessie Catherine Aspinwall. They were great friends and neighbors of my grandparents who both lived on Elderfields Road in Manhasset in the 1950 Flower Hill (Nassau County) census. Ralph was the founder and president of Great Neck (Crossman Lasalle) Cadillac dealership in Great Neck, NY. My grandparents always bought Cadillacs. They both had the same model Consolidated teak wood fishing boat which the couples lived on during their summers together at Goldsmith Boatyard on the North Fork. Before Manhasset, the Pulitzers lived in nearby Glen Cove on Chicken Valley Road according to his WWII registration card.
