Linda as called by her family members departed this earthly life on August 2, 2012 after a brief illness at the Crestpark Nursing Home in Marianna, Arkansas.
Linda was preceded in death by her father, L.C. Colbert, Sr.; grandmother, Alice Rush; two brothers, L. C. Colbert, Jr., and Tommie L. Colbert; one sister, Ella Jackson and a grandson, William Rush.
Alice confessed a hope in Christ in 1961 at the St. John Missionary Baptist Church of Lexa (called Old Edge Wood Rd) under the leadership of Rev. Hall.
Linda was reared most of her life by her grandmother, where she attended Helena-West Helena public schools and later returned to Chicago to attend the Chicago Public Schools. She worked at various jobs and seemed to have found her calling working with the elderly and the handicapped.
Linda married James Gains and the late Ben Jacobs.
She leaves to cherish her memories; twin daughters, Annette and Grancette both of Jackson, MS; two mothers in which she delighted in telling everyone, Annie Mae Dover, of Helena, AR and Willie Mae Colbert of Lexa, AR; five brothers, Charlie (Lucille) Colbert of Lexa, AR, Timothy (Misty) Finley of Appleton, WI, John L. (Cheryl) Colbert of Fayetteville, AR, Melvin (Wanda) Colbert of Green Valley, CA and Will (Valerie) Colbert of Forrest City, AR; three sisters, Bertha C. Wilson of Lexa, AR, Shirley (Alvin) Long of Marianna, AR, and Mechelle (Jeff) Willis of TX; uncle, William (Catherine) Rush of Jackson, MS; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and a special friend, Sylvester (Rambo) of Helena, AR.
