Garland Wolf, 94, of Forsyth died Saturday, May 5, 2018 in the Forsyth Nursing and Rehab Center. A gathering of friends and family will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, May 8 in the Kissee-Schofield-Eakins Funeral Home. A private interment, with military honors, will be held in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield.

Garland Wolf was born Thursday, August 2, 1923 in Cedar Creek to Deward Everett and Cleva Belle (Fine) Wolf he attended school in Forsyth and graduated from the Forsyth High School in the class of 1943. After high school he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served on the ship, L.S.T. 870 in the South Pacific and Japan as a Storekeeper 2nd Class and Gunner during World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1946. He moved back to Forsyth and bought a local drug store with his brother, the Wolf Brothers Drug from 1948 to 1967. Even though he was a fulltime farmer, he owned the Forsyth Supermarket from 1968 to 1970. He met Mary Vorstius in 1968 in Forsyth. They were married June 15, 1969 in Forsyth.

Garland was a remarkable man. He was a member of the Forsyth Lions Club, Forsyth Chamber of Commerce; a volunteer for the Forsyth Fire Dept, a member of the American Hereford Association and served on the board of directors of many local banks. Farming was one of his greatest passions. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and reading biographies. He was kind, witty and very content. He loved his family and animals.

He is survived by his wife of forty-eight years, Mary Wolf of Forsyth; two sons, Rusty Wolf and wife, Janice of Forsyth, Randy Wolf of Moody, AL; one daughter, Gwen Iwanowski and husband, Mark of San Carlos, CA; grandchildren, Angel Wolf of Forsyth, Rich Wolf and wife, Heidi of Forsyth, two great-grandchildren, Shelbi and Rylan Wolf.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Harlan and D.C. Wolf.
