Margaret Francis Harbin Berryman, 78, of Mooresville, died Friday, June 3, 2005 at her daughter’s home. Born June 29, 1926, in Davie County, Mrs. Berryman was the daughter of the late Savannah William and Bertha Florna Anderson Harbin. After graduating from Harmony High School, she moved to Greensboro. She was employed at Jefferson Pilot and was active in the LPGA and Girl Scouts. She and her husband lived in Puerto Rico for many years before moving to Florida. The family moved to Statesville in 1971, and she continued her community service through church and volunteer work at Davis Hospital. To be close to her daughter and her family, she moved to Mooresville in 2001. Mrs. Berryman was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Charles “Pete” Frederick Berryman, whom she married Sept. 11, 1948. Brothers, Leonard, William, Claude, Clay, Clyde and Devid Harbin, and sisters, Sadie Travis, Fay Garwood, Suwannee Mae Harbin, Beatrice Snyder and Annie Harbin, also preceded her in death. Survivors included her daughter Judy Scruggs of Mooresville; brother Wade Harbin of Statesville; two granddaughters Cynthia Edwards of Clinton, Mass. and Leigh Scruggs of Mooresville; and two great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Sunday, June 5, at Bunch Johnson Funeral Home in Statesville. A graveside service followed at Oakwood Cemetery.
