Alex and Elizabeth (Schnickel) Bonine grew up in the Brownton and Hector area. They had eleven children: Donald, Marilyn, Wes, Will, Ed, Rosemary, Larry, Ken, Ruth, Janet, and Barb. Alex and Elizabeth farmed in the Gibbon area before purchasing a farm southwest of Padua. The farm was purchased from a Mr. Gilbertson. They moved to the farm, by Padua, in February of 1957 with children Larry, Ken, Ruth, Janet, and Barb. The children attended the country schoolhouse across from the Robert Rooney farm. Son Larry now owns the farm.
Alex liked to do some fishing and hunting, and Elizabeth liked to do embroidery. She also like to quilt and made a quilt for each of their 45 grandchildren.
Alex and Elizabeth are buried near their son Donald and grandson Randall. Grandson baby Thomas Bonine is also buried in Padua.
