Mr. Ottis L.Shedd, 96, of Blountsville, was received into the presence of our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 2, 2018. He was born in Cullman County on August 18, 1921, to Mathis John and Emma Lee Young Shedd.

Mr. Shedd was an entrepreneur. He worked as a building contractor for over 40 years, building homes and businesses in Cullman, Blount, Marshall, Morgan, and Madison counties. Mr. Shedd opened and operated Shedd Building Supply in Blountsville. He ran the building supply for 37 years. In 1988 he also built and operated Snead Funeral Home; Blount County/Cleveland Funeral Home was added in 1994 and Holly Pond Funeral Home followed in 1998. Snead Funeral Home was later sold. Blount County/Cleveland Funeral Home and Holly Pond Funeral Home continue to be owned and operated by the Shedd family. Blue Springs Water Company, opened in 2004, in Blount County can also be attributed to his many accomplishments. Mr. Shedd accomplished many things in his life, but was most proud of his family. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

He is preceded in death by his parents John and Emma Young Shedd; his brother, Lonnie J. Shedd; and his sister, Tava Shedd Brown.

Mr. Shedd is survived by his wife of 76 years, daughters, sisters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews along with a host of friends.

Funeral services were May 5 at Holly Pond Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Holly Pond Cemetery.
