∼"OBITUARY After a kindly, useful life, Aunt Perlina Gentry quit the scenes of this world, March 2, 1916, at the age of 73 years, 4 months and 24 days. She was the daughter of Andrew and Martha Baker, was born in Montgomery County, Kentucky, Oct. 8, 1842 and came with her parents to Hendricks county, Indiana, in December, 1852. In 1868 she was married to James Madison Gentry and in 1899 they came to Ladoga and Mrs. Gentry has lived here since that time until her death.
Of their five children, two daughters died in infancy and one son, Martin Andrew, died Nov. 1, 1891; Marshal Wilbern, of Ladoga, and Jasper Ernest, his wife and three children, of Mr. Carmel, Ill., survive.
Both Mrs. Gentry and her husband united with the PRIMITIVE BAPTIST AT MT. ZION. Mr. Gentry died March 16, 1905.
Mrs. Gentry was of a family of fourteen children, two of whom died in infancy. Seven sisters and four brothers grew to adult age. Mary Andrew HUNT, of Parson, Kansas; Sarah BAKER, of Danville; Rachael LEACH, of Lizton; and Jesse BAKER of Bainbridge, preceded her to the beyond. Rebecca LEAK, of Sedalia, Oklahoma; Lucy Ann MANN of Adrian Mo.; David S BAKER, Lizton; Eliza Jane BAKER, of Danville; Martha Frances HYPES, North Salem; Edward S. BAKER and James A BAKER, of Indianapolis, survive.
After several years of most patient suffering from a complication of diseases, Mrs. Gentry was stricken with paralysis, March 1, 1916, and death resulted.
Her departure is mourned alike by children, grandchildren, relatives and neighbors and friends, for she was kindhearted, sunny natured, helpful woman, not given to show or parade but quiet, motherly and good "Aunt Perlina" to all who knew her.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday morning by Elder John R. Dailey, of Indianapolis, at Mt. Pleasant church four miles north of Danville and interment was in the family cemetery at the old Gentry homestead."
