"Marvin Blakely, 72, died yesterday, Feb. 14, 1988, at Menorah Medical Center, Kansas City.

Mr. Blakely was born Jan. 7, 1916, in Carroll County, the son of Hunter and Fairy Bell Griffin Blakely. On Jan. 8, 1940, in Hutchison, Kan., he married Edith I. McCracken. He served in the Army during World War II. He had been a self-employed farmer for 40 years, living most of his life in Livingston County. He moved from Ludlow to Avalon in 1947. He was a member of the Avalon Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Edith, of the home, RFD2; five sons, Richard of Hamilton, Ronald of Palmdale, Calif., Roger of Rockport, and Ray and Ralph, both of Chillicothe; three daughters, Rena Saldivar of Chillicothe, Rebel Amorosa of Longdale, Calif., and Robin Economu of Quartz Hill, Calif.; three sisters, Alice Rhiner of Kansas City, Kan., Helen Barlette of Kansas City and Rena Campbell of Chillicothe; 17 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Lindley Funeral Home. Brother Jim Maberry will officiate. Burial will be in the Blue Mound Cemetery." The Chillicothe Constitution-Tribune, February 15, 1988
