From the Walker County Messenger, June 20th, 1930:

WM. NEWTON KEOWN
William Newton Keown, aged 75, died Thursday afternoon,
June 12th, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. E. Hargraves,
Rock Springs, Ga. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Carrie Watkins
and Mrs. Nancy Hargraves; one son, Warren Keown; two sisters,
Mrs. Queenie White, Mrs. Minerva Richardson; and three half-sisters,
Mrs. Inkee Burton, Mrs. Cappee Alverson and Mrs. Murtis Alverson.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. from the
Pleasant Hill church, the Rev. Mr. Taylor officiating. Interment was
in Lawrence Graveyard. Arrangements were in charge of
J. Avery Bryan Company.
