Fay Sowers
October 29, 1923 - May 5, 2018

Fay Sowers peacefully passed the morning of May 5, 2018 and entered her glorious heavenly home. We rejoice in knowing she is with our Lord and Savior. Fay was a blessing to everyone that met her. She inspired others with her wisdom, tremendous love and Christian faith. She aged with such beauty and grace.

She was born in Lost Creek, KY. She was one of eleven children of Caleb and Mary Noble, and the last to pass. Fay married the love of her life, Louis Sowers, on December 18, 1943. They bought their first home in Ohio.

Louis was a superintendent of major construction companies in the Dayton area. Fay was wife and incredible mother. She taught Sunday school. Later she and her husband owned an antique store in Union, Ohio and then West Milton, Ohio called Sowers Trading Post. After closing their stores, they moved to Ohio and purchased an Airstream Trailer. They traveled with Mall promoters setting up booths at antique shows across the southern and eastern United States. Fay became a true expert about antiques and especially antique jewelry. They relocated to Florida and then Dothan, Al. They continued in the antique business well into their 80’s.

Fay felt one of their greatest accomplishments was being among the founding couples that started Union Baptist Church (now located in Englewood, Ohio). Their names are written on the cornerstone there.

In their 80’s, Louis and Fay moved to Ohio and lived a while with their son, Larry, and daughter-in-law, Wanda before moving to Safety Harbor, FL where they lived near their daughter, Susan and son-in-law, Fred Buchholtz. After Louis passed away in 2009, Fay moved to Georgia where she lived with her daughter Deborah and son-in-law, James Coffey. James passed away in 2015. When Deborah remarried, Steve Neatherton, Fay joyfully welcomed her new son-in-law into her loving heart.

Fay had Parkinson’s Disease. As it further took its toll on her body several years ago, Fay needed to be moved into an assisted living home. She was moved to Mercy Pointe located close to Steve’s and Deborah’s home in Lawrenceville, GA. There were only five other women and her caregivers in the home. They were all like her second family. She was very loved and appreciated there.

Fay was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Louis Elwood Sowers, her parents Caleb and Mary Noble, her siblings and their spouses as follows; Blanche McIntosh (Alfred), Quentin Noble (Ruth), Mabel Gambill (Luther), Geraldine Russell (Charles), Jewell Smith (Ernest), Gene Noble, June Noble (Lillian), Jeanette Roe (Fred), Frank Noble (Judy), and Janice Bataille, her grandson, Joshua Sergent, and son-in-law, James Coffey.

She is survived by her children Larry Sowers (wife Wanda), Deborah Neatherton (husband Steve), and Susan Buchholtz, grandchildren Donald Sowers, Marie Campbell (Chris), John Sowers (Lisa), Brian Coffey, Michael Coffey, Jarad Sergent and Jeremy Sergent, sister-in-law, Jean Alice Noble, and brother-in-law, Tom Bataille, many great-grandchildren, and a beautiful great-great granddaughter as well as many very loved nieces and nephews.

Fay donated her body to science via MedCare. http://www.medcure.org/?gclid=Cj0KCQjwrLXXBRCXARIsAIttmRO0zZSlakBMXd7ElRugAAOUoiLb1Sot2Qjpb5kCfuEPFxNMdwsWgrUaAgZGEALw_wcB

A memorial will be held in The Villages, FL at a yet undetermined date. A graveside memorial will take place later when her ashes will be placed within the same grave as her beloved husband, Louis, in Eaton Cemetery, Clay City, KY.

Fay was an amazing, loving, wise, remarkable wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend who shall be sorely missed by every single person who knew her.
