Graveside services for Carl Benge, 80, of Lufkin, will be held May 7, 2018 in the New Church Cemetery in Trinity County. Mr. Benge was born March 21, 1938 in Polk County, Texas, the son of the late Ivie Nora (Brooks) and Clifford Benge. He passed away Thursday, May 3, 2018 at his residence.

Mr. Benge was a loving husband, father, and "Pap Paw". He was retired after 27 years from Texas Foundry as a mechanic. He was a ranch hand for more than 50 years and was the last of a dying breed of cowboy. Mr. Benge was a hard worker and loved his garden. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and time on his tractor.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Elna Benge; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Connie Benge; daughter, Anna Benge; sons and daughters-in-law, Mitcheal and Carylon Benge and Jesse and Shawna Benge; grandchildren, Kaleb, Amanda, Jeremy, Levi, Cody, Meagan, Shannon, Shawnette, Roy, Krystle, Erick, Brody, Brian, Tiffany, Elizabeth, Neal and Garrett; 22 great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Jerry Benge, Clint Benge and Clayton Benge; sister, Claudine; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Benge was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.

Services placed in trust of Gipson Funeral Home.
