Death of Miss H. E. Laycock

The death of Miss Hattie E. Laycock occurred at the home of her sister, Mrs. Abraham Watson, Collingwood Street, after a short illness from Septic pneumonia on Wednesday evening, November 27th.

The late Miss Laycock, who was in her 73rd year, was born on the Seventh line, St. Vincent, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Laycock. Although crippled from birth and unable to walk, she was unfallingly bright and cheerful and was always busy taking care of household duties and performing such tasks as her afflictions permitted. Her passing will be deeply mourned and her cheerful presence greatly missed in the home which has been hers for the past four years, as another invalid sister, Mrs. Selena Hilts, also resides with Mrs. Watson and to her the bereavement will be doubly severe, shut in as she has been for the past eleven years.

Miss Laycock was a member and devoted attendant of the Church of Christ (Disciples) Meaford. Surviving are two brothers, William of Meaford and Alex. of Saskatoon, and six sisters, Mrs. Sarah Buntley [sic Bentley] Tucson, Ariz. Mrs. Selena Hilts, Meaford; Mrs Ada Agar, Deer Park, Wash; Mrs. Annie Watson, Meaford; Mrs. Maggie Town, Seatle Wash., and Mrs. Emma Tupper, Riverton, Nebraska.

After a short private service at the house, the funeral service was held in the Church of Christ, Nelson street, on Friday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. Evangelist C. G. McPhee, of St. Catharines and formerly of Meaford, Officiated. The pall bearers were Meesrs Jos. Walker, Arthur Whitfield, Fred Boyes, Geo. Deagan, E. E. Ellis and Bedford Raven. Interment was made in Lakeview Cemetery.
