She was born in Memphis, Missouri to W.R. and Abigail Cecil Callaway. As a child she crossed the plains to Oregon with her parents in 1864. The family settled in Linn county for one year and then moved to Benton county to a farm seven miles north of Corvallis. They were instrumental in the business and civic life of Corvallis.
Lillian married James C. Taylor in 1876. To this union were born two children. Mr. Taylor passed away in May, 1906.
In 1910 she was united in marriage to Charles E. Maynard of Colton, Washington. She resided in Colton and Clarkston, Washington until she suffered a paralytic stroke on October 20th. She passed away at her home in Clarkston, Washington on Thursday, October 26, 1939.
