William H. Bell, Jr. ,Ingleside, Texas, passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2009 after a lengthy illness. He was 85 years old. Henry was born in Taft, Texas on July 1, 1924 to Clara Aigner Bell and William H. Bell. He graduated high school in Taft, Texas. In 1942 he enlisted in the U.S. Army during WWII. He served in the 101st Airborne Division, and saw combat in Normandy during the D-Day Invasion, in Holland during Operation Market Garden, and in Belgium during the siege of Bastogne. Wounds received at Bastogne ended his military career. He was the recipient of Combat Infantryman Badge, Parachutist's Badge, the American Theater Ribbon, EAME Theater Ribbon (with 3 Bronze Stars), Good Conduct Medal, and Purple Heart (with 1 Cluster.) He returned to South Texas and worked for many years with Plymouth Oil Company. He married Mary Lee Ondrusek, also of Taft, Texas. He continued his education and earned Bachelor's Degrees in English and in History (University of Corpus Christi,) as well as Masters Degrees in Education, Administration, and Special Education (Texas A&I University.) He taught school at Wynnseale Junior High School Corpus Christi; then was Second Assistant Principle at Ray High School, Corpus Christi; later Principle at Rangeley High School in Rangeley, Colorado; and Assistant Principle at Calallen Middle School. He retired from education after teaching special education for many years. Henry was an avid hunter and saltwater fisherman. In his later years he enjoyed bird watching.

Henry is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary Lee Bell of Ingleside, Texas; his sister, Clara Jo Tidwell of Taft, Texas; his son and daughter-in-law of Austin, Texas. Private family burial will be at Seaside Memorial Park. Arrangements entrusted to Charlie Marshall Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., Aransas Pass.
