Rudolph Thomas was born in Mühlfeld, Germany and immigrated with his parents and seven brothers and sisters to the United States from Bremen, Germany arriving in the Port of Baltimore on board the Bark, "Elise" on September 9, 1845. Rudolph's earliest occupation appears as a "Curled Hair Manufacturer", in the 1860 census working at the William Wilkens Hair Factory. Rudolph married Catherine Landwher. Rudolph and Catherine had five children: Louisia, Lewis, Hennieta, Henry and Johauaush? Rudolph's occupation appears in all future census' as a "Stone Mason". Rudolph lived in the Mill Hill area of Southwest Baltimore his entire life.
