Gladys G. "Day" Griffiths, 98, of Frostburg died Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at Lions Center for Rehabilitation and Extended Care.

Born Oct. 1, 1919, in Pittsburgh, Pa., to the late Thomas A. and Laura (Schenk) Miller, she is also preceded by her husband, John W. "Jack" Griffiths; sister, Alice K. Smolter; brother, William G. Miller; and two sisters-in-law, Eileen Johnson and Gene Meddings.

Day graduated from Etna High School, Etna, Pa., in 1938.
She married Jack, who worked for G.C. Murphy Company, on Oct. 12, 1946. Because of his job, they lived in various towns in western Pennsylvania (Etna, Butler, Pitcairn, and Sewickley) and finally moved to Frostburg in 1962 where Jack was the manager of the store.

Day devoted herself to her home and family, loved cooking, baking and sewing and was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and LCW for many years. She and Jack also delighted in taking scenic drives exploring the area whenever they got a chance. She will be deeply missed by family and friends.

Day is survived by two daughters, Bonnie Carter and husband, George, Orange Beach, Ala., and Tammy McClellan and husband, Robert, LaVale; seven grandchildren, Jason Carter and wife, Miriam, Megan Moreno and husband, Frank, Heather Bray, Melissa Reeves, Bryan Reeves and wife, Michele, Keith McClellan and Jennifer McClellan; and 12 great-grandchildren, Simon and Leo Carter, Ryan and Samuel Moreno, Morgan Dickson, Hannah, Emily and Ben Bray, Cameron and Sarah Saville, Josie and Amelia Reeves.

Services will be conducted at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Sunday, May 6, 2018, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Richard Schoenly officiating.

Friends will be received one hour prior to services.

Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Day's memory to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 227, Frostburg, MD 21532.

The family thanks the many caregivers at the Kensington and the Lions Center for their kindness and thoughtfulness during Day's time of residence there.
