He was a native and life long resident of Avery County, a member of First Baptist Church o Newland and a veteran of World War II.
He is survived by one son, one brother and three sisters.
Services were conducted Sunday at First Baptist Church of Newland, officiated by Reverend Jack Bryant. Burial followed in the Flat Springs Cemetery.
Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home in Newland was in charge of the arrangements.
