***The following information was sent to me by Lois Stockett Lannin.*** Thank you!:
"I believe that the grave is that of John D. Stockett, born 22 Feb 1822 at Gretna Green Plantation, Wilkinson, MS. His middle name is either Dillahunt or Dillyhunt.
His parents were Samuel Stockett and Mary Elizabeth Johnson. John enlisted in Company K of the Mississippi 16th Regiment and served in the CSA. He survived the war. I believe that he died in 1870. He married Sarah Higgins in 1850, and they had at least two children: Cornelia and Henry Johnson Stockett.
He is referred to in the book "A Mississippi Rebel in the Army of Northern Virginia: The Civil War Memoirs of David Holt". David Holt was the brother-in-law of John's brother, Samuel Henry Stockett.
I have not found a good source for his date of death and am unsure if it can be read from his headstone. The headstone appears damaged."
