Delona Beatrice Ward Nelson, age 89 of Covington, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, April 27, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Erby Nelson; parents, John Clifford and Edith Agnes Hill Ward; 1 brother and 2 sisters. She is survived by daughters, Brenda Faye Nelson of Covington, GA, Pamela Jean Evans of Conyers, GA; Grandson Michael Scott (Lisa) Evans of Covington, GA; granddaughter, Natalie Evans (Patrick) Ray of Covington, GA; great-grandchildren, Tylan, Dominique, Reid, Angel, Colton; sister, Dorothy Farmer of Ashburn, GA; several nieces and nephews. She left school in the 8th grade to help on the family farm and worked as a telephone operator as a teenager. She later attended Massey Business College and worked at Grady Hospital in the records room. Mrs. Nelson worked for the Rockdale Board of Education and at Look Good Feel Better, makeup that is sent to cancer patients. Delona was a member of Newton Baptist Church. She loved her family and traveling with friends. Funeral Services will be held Sunday, April 29, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Scot Ward's Green Meadow Chapel with Pastor R. A. Stucke and Pastor Tony Howeth officiating; interment will follow at Green Meadow Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
