Robert Lee Byrd, 88, died peacefully in his sleep, April 20, 2018 at his home in Sugar Land, Texas. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Frances Byrd; daughters, Catherine A. See and husband Edward C. See, Frances L. Brewer and husband Randall K. Brewer, Cynthia L. Mayes and husband Josh G. Mayes; seven grandchildren, Robert R. Byrd, Jeremiah A. De Los Santos, Joshua G. Mayes, Sarah E. Ewing, Jackson J. Mayes, Wesley R. Brewer and Anthony M. Brewer; four great-grandchildren, Destiny Boss, Kameron De Los Santos, Ryder Mayes and Wesson Mayes.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Janice M. Byrd Fussell; mother, Laverne Bain and father, Luther Bain.
Robert proudly volunteered to serve his country in the United States Navy for two tours during the Korean War. He was a long-standing member of St. Theresa Catholic Church and a devout Catholic Christian. Robert was a loyal and honorable employee at WKM/Cooper Cameron in Missouri City, Texas and retired after 38 years of dedicated service. His passion was gardening and growing vegetables for his family and friends.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 am, April 30, 2018 at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 705 St. Theresa Blvd., Sugar Land, Texas with a rosary to be recited 30 minutes prior. A reception will immediately follow the service.
