He was sales representative for Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. since 1927, retiring three years ago. In 1964 he earned top record in Great Lakes area among all Metropolitan representatives. Mr. Abbs attended Lawrence College and was a member of Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity. He was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church and was formerly on board of deacons. He was a charter member of Life Underwriter's Association, a past president of Lion's Club, past president of Toast- master's Club, former board member of YMCA and twice treasurer, member of U.C.T. 132 and Fond du Lac Lodge 140 F. & A.M.
He was born April 14, 1900, at. Richland Center, the son of John and Eva Spry Abbs. He married Elizabeth M. Donaldson on March 27, 1923, at Kaukauna and they made their home in the city since their marriage.
Survivors include his widow; two daughters, Mrs. Betty Jane Balthazor and Mrs. Donald A. Zoellner, both of the city; one son, Donald of Elgin, Ill.; two grandchildren; one brother, Alva of Viroqua; and one sister, Mrs. Marjorie Brewster of Beloit.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Plymouth Congregational Church with the Rev. Frederick C. Strobel officiating. Burial will be in Rienzi Cemetery.
