Orrin F. (Butch) Franklin, 77, of Dunkirk, IN, passed away Friday, April 13, 2018 while in the company of family members at I.U. Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie, IN. Butch was born in Muncie, IN, on July 3, 1940, a son of the late Alberta Lucille (Buis) and Orrin Evert Franklin. He was a graduate of Yorktown High School, served in the U.S. Navy, and worked as a Heat Plant Operator at Ball State University, Muncie, IN, until his retirement on June 28, 2013.
He is survived by his lovely wife, Freda (Wheeler) Franklin; two sons, Keith and Brian; two brothers, Larry Smith and Billie White; two sisters, Judy Ziems and Pat Tuttle; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Butch was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter-in-law, Marla Franklin.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at MJS Mortuaries-Dunkirk Chapel with Brother Bobby Thomas officiating. Friends are invited to call one hour prior to the funeral from 12-1 p.m. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie, IN. Military rites will be performed by the Dunkirk American Legion Post 227.
