Beals - George Vern Drisko, 83, the youngest son of the late Ellis Wandell Drisko and Christianna Alley Drisko of Beals, Maine, went to be with his lord and savior on April 23, 2018. George was born on Jan. 8, 1935, at Beals. He attended Beals schools. After finishing school, George followed in the footsteps of his father working on the water front. He made most of his living lobster fishing and digging clams. Over the years he dragged shrimp and scallops. Years ago when fish were plentiful, he used to enjoy handlining with his father and brother, Esten (Tecky). He also liked raking sea moss.
In the early 70s George served as pastor of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for seven years. Now it is the Community of Christ Church. It was a great experience for him. He made countless friends.
George had one sister, Charlottie Arlene Alley and her husband, Justin, two brothers, Ellis Leeland Drisko and his wife, Virginia, and Esten Almond (Tecky) Drisko, all of Beals, and all deceased.
George is survived by his sister-in-law, Etta Drisko of Jonesport, ME; niece, Juanita Gray and her husband, Danny, of Addison, ME; nephews, Daniel and William Gray and their families of Addison, ME, David Drisko and his wife, Louisa, of Roque Bluffs, and Jody Alley of Jonesport, ME.
Due to George's request there will be no visiting hours or services. He will be cremated, and remains will be taken care of at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in George's memory to a church of one's choice.
Special thanks to everyone at Sunrise Care Facility for the loving care he received.
Arrangements are under the care of Bragdon Kelley Funeral Home, Machias, ME.
