She was born on July 10, 1923 in Weyauwega, WI, the daughter of Frank and Mary (Barnhart) Haffner. She married Handferd Colden on May 16, 1942 in Weyauwega.
She is survived by her husband; Handferd, sons; Wayne Colden and James Colden of Waupaca, daughter; Mary Colden of Waupaca, grandson; Andrew (Elesha) Colden of Waupaca, great grandchildren; Alexis and Bailey Colden, sister; Ramona (William) Schumacher of Weyauwega, and half-brother; Frank Haffner, Jr. of Menasha. She is further survived by two nieces and a nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Beatrice had been a very active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Waupaca, having served as President of the Trinity Lutheran Church Women from 1968 – 1969, arranging all the banquets, lunches, and dinners served at Trinity Lutheran Church for many years, and having served on the Altar Guild and with the Sarah Circle. She also had a number of other interests over the years including the Casey Lake Homemakers, the Christian Women’s Club, Reach to Recovery, and the Ladies Lunch group at Simpson’s Restaurant (Thursday Girls).
A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 5, 2010 at 7:00 PM at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca, WI, with Reverend Jennifer DeNetz – Pastor, Trinity Lutheran Church, officiating. A visitation will be held at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca on Friday evening from 4:00 – 7:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to Alzheimer’s Research in the name of Beatrice I. Colden.
