Born in Newport, Rita was the daughter of Charles and Norma (Cousino) Brancheau. She married the love of her life, Rollin Spalding, on June 23, 1945 in DeLand, Florida. Sadly he preceded her in death December 23, 1989. A dedicated homemaker, Rita also had worked at Monroe Auto Equipment during World War II and at River Raisin Paper Company. She was a faithful member of St. Charles Catholic Church where she sang in the choir and was a longtime volunteer at the parish festival.
Rita leaves to cherish her memory her children: LeDean (Theresa) Spalding of Beachwood Hills, North Carolina, Chris Spalding of Monroe, Adele Peterman of Carleton and Darrel Spalding of Loiusburg, North Carolina; grandchildren: Eric (Dacie) Peterman, Megan Peterman, Tanya (Chuck) Martin, Tracy (Brian) Bass, Connor Spalding and Elika Spalding; as well as her great grandchildren: Zoe Martin, Hannah Martin, Aiden Martin, Ezra Peterman and Asher Peterman; and a sister Bernice Langton of Maybee. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a daughter Andrea Kennedy; a brother Randall Brancheau and a sister Lucile Denny.
