Edgar Christian Schoppa, 81 of Vernon, TX passed away on April 21, 2018 in Wichita Falls after a short illness.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday April 25, 2018 at 10:00 AM, at Zion Lutheran Church, Lockett. Interment will be at Zion Lutheran Cemetery following the service.
Edgar was born October 11, 1936 in Vernon, son of the late Edgar N. and Clara Lutz Schoppa, a 1955 graduate of Lockett High School. He married the love of his life Norma Wilkinson on May 30, 1957. He worked for Parker Food Store, Safeway, and North Texas State Hospital. As a member of Jaycees, was named Man of the Year in 1972.
He was a life time member of Zion Lutheran Church, where he served as an Elder, Usher & Chairman of the Zion BBQ. Edgar leaves a legacy of Faith, Family and Friends, as demonstrated by his lifelong servant roll at Zion Lutheran, his 59 year mission of continuing the Schoppa Family Reunion, and with friends from all walks of life, from the Domino table to the BBQ pit. Always a man of his word, and infectious grin, with a motto of “Y’all Come, We’ll Play”. He was an avid outdoorsman, reader of Westerns, loved watching football & baseball.
Edgar is survived by his wife Norma, daughter Lisa Full and son-in-law Dennis of McKinney, TX. 3 grandchildren, Carson, and wife Katie Full of Frisco, TX, Colin Full of Plano, TX and Marissa Full of Dallas, TX. 2 sisters Mary Ann Clark of Corpus Christi,TX, Deloras (Mike) Price of Vernon, nephews Bill Price of Vernon and Chris Clark of Pittsburgh, PA niece Michelle Clark Phillips of Alamosa, CO. and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son Brian Keith in 2015.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be made to the Zion Lutheran Cemetery or the Zion Lutheran Building Fund.
