WABASHA -- A Mass of Christian burial will be offered for Mamie L. Gosse at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Felix Catholic Church in Wabasha, with the Rev. Gerald Conway officiating. Burial will be in St. Felix Cemetery.

Mrs Gosse, 93, of Wabasha, a former area farm homemaker, died Wednesday (May 29, 1996) at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Wabasha.

Mamie L. Biever was born April 27, 1903, in Reads Landing, graduated from St. Felix High School and after graduating from Winona Normal Teachers College taught in rural Wabasha County schools. On Sept. 28, 1946, she married Lawrence Gosse at St. Felix Catholic Church and they farmed in rural Wabasha until 1960 when they moved into town. Her husband died Sept. 10, 1981. Mrs. Gosse was a member of the Wabasha County Retired Teachers Association, St. Felix Catholic Church, St. Felix Council of Catholic Women, and Catholic Order of Women Foresters andserved as head of the organization for 63 years.

Survivors include three sisters, Gertrude Reisinger and Ann Harano, both of Wabasha, and Cecelia Clare of Lake City; and a brother, Frank Biever of Reads Landing. She was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.

Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Abbott Funeral Home in Wabasha. There will be a Council of Catholic Women and Catholic Order of Women Foresters rosary service at 4 p.m. Friday and a prayer serice at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
