Woman Dies Trying to Save Son From Fire
Lenoir City, Tenn. - A woman died after re-entering her burning home to save her 7-year old child, but the boy already had escaped the house, authorities said Friday.
The boy, Justin Cody Muncy, and his 12 old sister, Misty Muncy, had gone next door to get help, said Fire Chief David Denton.
"One of the neighbors said the boy went back inside to get his mother and then she went back. We are still trying to piece things together," he said.
Deborah Parris Dymitro, 28, died in the Thursday fire.
Justin received first and second degree burns and was in stable condition at the Loudon County Memorial Hospital, hospital officials said.
Denton said the fire department is continuing to investigate the cause of the fire, but witnesses say the family was using kerosene heaters to keep the house warm.
