Jessie Beulah Brown was born November 3, 1876. She married Ward J. Sheldon in June,1913 on the steps of the Capitol in Pierre, South Dakota. Ward worked in the oil fields in Galveston and according to his niece Etta Eakin Roberts "He moved to Electra where they struck oil...and he was very fortunate...he struck a gusher!"

Twin sons were born to the Sheldons on April 30, 1915. They were named Wichita and Thrall...after two oil wells.
(Wichita died in August,1987...Wichita Falls, TX listed as his last residence. Thrall died August,1981...North Myrtle Beach, SC listed as his last residence)

Mrs. Jessie Sheldon died December 21, 1951 and her husband died March 15, 1953.

Update from Shirley Hemingway: Jessie's parents were Clarence A. & Ada Brown. (They were originally from Sleepy Eye, MN according to my reports from relatives) The cemetery listing in the Electra Cemetery includes the names of Ada L.(6/20/1856-11/10/1924) & Clarence A. Brown (9/26/1850-03/17/1931). They are in the same "section" as the Sheldons. Jessie Brown Sheldon's niece Ruth Sheldon married Jessie's brother Ernest Brown(1878-1955) who is also buried in the Electra Cemetery in the Sheldon section.
