Bill Burris passed away Wednesday April 18, 2018, at the age of 83. He was born July 31, 1934, in Yukon, Oklahoma, to Ben and Ruby Burris.

Bill met his one true love, Velta Jo Schein, early in life. They were married on May 27, 1955. From their union came three children, Cynthia Diane, Terrie Lynne, and Douglas Wayne.

Bill graduated from Yukon High School in 1954. He received a Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree in Agronomy from Oklahoma State University.

Bill dedicated many years of his life to farming and the agriculture industry. His passion for agriculture was shared throughout his lifetime and inspired those around him. He was active in many organizations and received multiple awards for his service. Through his participation in these activities and organizations, Bill developed friendships with many people whom he loved and admired.

He leaves behind the following family members to cherish many wonderful memories: his children, Mac and Cindy Keeling of Muskogee, OK; Terrie Grell of Braman, OK; Doug and Stephanie Burris, of Arlington, TX; grandchildren, Jared and Annie Grell and Austin and Paige Tickel of Braman, OK; Glen and Lauren Blake of Tulsa, OK; Jacob Unruh and Ashley Keeling of Oklahoma City, OK; Brandon, Blake, and Brittany Burris of Arlington, TX; great-grandchildren, Balen and Grayson Grell and Elsie and Hattie Tickel of Braman, OK; Nash Chandler and Mac Blake of Tulsa, OK; Mackenzie Blake of Edmond, OK and siblings, Don and Betty Barton of Yukon, OK; Stanley Burris of Yukon, OK; Eldon and Nancy Hall of Broken Bow, OK. He also leaves behind many dear nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Velta Jo Burris, parents, Ben and Ruby Burris, two brothers, Benny Joe and Jerry Burris, sister, Opal Ross, and son-in-law, Mark Grell.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday April 23, 2018, at Yanda and Son Funeral Home Chapel, with interment following at Frisco Cemetery, Yukon, OK.
