Dorthy Dean Sharp Griffeth
September 9, 1928 - April 16, 2018
Dorthy Dean Sharp Griffeth, 89, left this world to be with the love of her life April 16, 2018, in Preston, Idaho, surrounded by her family. She was born Sept. 9, 1928, to Arnold Edgar and Ruby Woolf Sharp. She was raised in Preston, Idaho, along with her brothers and sisters during the Depression where they grew up working and playing together. She loved spending time with her Grandpa and Grandma Woolf in Riverdale. When she was in high school, she met her forever sweetheart, Eugene Fordham Griffeth, who stole her from his best friend. They were married for time and all eternity June 10, 1948, in the Logan LDS Temple.
They were blessed with four children who were their pride and joy. As they raised their family they moved to various locations in Montana and Idaho for job opportunities before they settled permanently in Dayton, Idaho. They continued to watch their posterity grow as they loved out their lives.
Dorthy was very artistically gifted. She loved to do counted cross-stitch, sew, paint, using many different mediums, crochet, knit and everything crafty in general. She loved to cook and bake for her family as well. She was always sharing her talents with others. She loved to play games with her family and laugh so hard she would cry. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved living and sharing the gospel. She served in the Relief Society most of her life, but the highlight of her life was serving a mission with her husband.
Dorthy is survived by her children, Christine (Alan) Taylor, James Edward (Brenda) Griffeth and Tammy (Curtis) Hess; 20 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; her siblings, Ross (Marian) Sharp, Betty (Loren) Jenks, Dixie (Steven) Larsen, Darlis Brown; and by a son-in-law, Kelly (LeeAnn) Ryan. She was preceded in death by her loving sweetheart, Eugene; by her parents; by a daughter, Penny Jean; a brother, Arnold Sharp, by a sister, Roma Jean and by a grandson, Jeremy.
The family would like to thank the Franklin County Medical Center for their kind and caring staff.
