Rosie B. Rainer

Retired seamstress Mrs. Rosie B. Rainer, 88, passed away at Laird Hospital in Union on June 10, 2001. Funeral services for her were held at Oakland Baptist Church with Rev. Winnie McMahon, Rev. Vic Borman and Rev. Warren Hedgepeth officiating. Burial took place in the church cemetery.

The lifelong resident of Oakland Baptist Church, Decatur, was an active member of the Little Rock Chapter of the Eastern Star where she once served as Grand Matron. She was also a member of the Hickory Reading Club. She had been a foster grandparent at East Miss. State Hospital and a house mom at the Baptist Children's Home in Laurel for many years. She wrote the Oakland Community News for the Union Appeal and the Newton Record.

Her survivors include four daughters, Lou Alexander of Little Rock, Helen Hicks and husband, Cosper, of Florence, Rosie Gibson and husband, Norman,, of DeKalb, and Vandra Smith and husband, Robert, of Benton, Louisiana; thirteen grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren; and three brothers, Martin Peninger of West, MS, Wilson Peninger and wife, Idra, of Ackerman, and G. W. Peninger of Meridian, and a host of nieces and nephews and devoted friends. She was preceded in death by her husband C. V. Rainer and two sons, Henton and Willard Rainer.

Pallbearers were Johnny Munn, Danny Gressett, Durwood Munn, Jimmy Johnson, R. C. Alexander and Kenneth Neese.

Milling Funeral Home of Union handled arrangements.
