Oakes, Millie Mae of Ann Arbor, Michigan died Saturday, April 7, 2018, she was 89 years old.

Millie was born in Brookfield Twp, Michigan on November 29, 1928, the daughter of Howard and Zella Hall.

She moved to Ann Arbor in 1941 and married Marvin Oakes on June 2, 1956 and together they made their home in Ann Arbor. Millie worked for the University of Michigan for over 30 years before retiring. She was a loving and devoted wife to Marvin for 60+ years. Millie enjoyed country music, long walks and was an avid fan of U of M football.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Velma Beson and brother Edward Hall. She leaves behind her sister, Jenny Draper, goddaughter Kirsten Phillips (Sell), niece Debbie (Diuguie) Wiard, nephew; Dennis (Sherry) Beson, niece; Kathy (Tom) Neblett, and many other nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Muehlig Funeral Chapel 403 South Fourth Ave., Ann Arbor. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until the hour of the service. Millie will be laid to rest in a private service at Washtenong Memorial Park. Donations may be offered to Memory Lane, 8064 Carpenter, Ypsilanti, MI 48197.
