Andrew Ewing "A E" Brizendine was born in 1864 in Sumner County, Tennessee, the son of James Wright Brizendine (1813–1873) and Lucinda C (Brown) Brizendine (1824–1901).
He was married on September 13, 1896 in Sumner County to Mary Elizabeth Brown (1854–1923), the daughter of Vincent Markham Brown (1826–1915) and Lucy Elvira "Puss" (Bradley) Brown (1835–1869).
Legally a resident of Fountain Head in Sumner County, he was 80 years old and a widower when he died of a cerebral hemorrhage on May 3, 1944 at Nashville's Central State Hospital where he had been for about 6 weeks. Burial was the same day in Maple Hill Cemetery, Portland.
