Served during the War of the American Revolution, by providing Civil Service. He was a Surveyor of Highways and a Constable in Weymouth. (MADAR, TOWN OFFICIALS 1775-1783, GRC 1935, S1 V35, PP 334, 340)
He is recognized by the Daughters of the American Revolution as a Patriot.

His son, Jonathan Pratt (1745-1832), also buried here, was a Patriot as well. Jonathan served in Capt. Joseph Trufant's (Independent) Co.; he enlisted Feb. 1, 1776; provided service to May 22, 1776, 3 mos. 22 days; his co. stationed at Weymouth for defence of the seacoast.
