BOWER, Dorothy M. - Of Flint, age 94, died Saturday, August 7, 1999 at Genesys Health Park. Funeral Services will be held 2PM Tuesday, August 10, 1999 at the Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Pastor Douglas Connelly will be officiating. Burial will be in Gracelawn Cemetery. Mrs. Bower will lie in state at the funeral home, where the family will receive visitors from 2-4 and 6-9PM on Monday. Memorial Contributions may be made to American Cancer Society. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Dorothy was born in Alma, MI on May 22, 1905, the daughter of Frederick A. and Grace E. (Montague) Davis. Mrs. Bower lived in the Flint area most of her life. She married Robert R. Bower on June 20, 1925 in Mt. Morris, Michigan. Dorothy was a member of the Christian Missionary Alliance and Cross Church. Mrs. Bower worked for Martin Dry Goods for more than 20 years and then at the Flint Journal for 10 years. Mrs. Bower is survived by: grandchildren, Bradford Bower of Ypsilanti, Julia (Dennis) Vangilder of Flint, Steven (Teresa) Bower of Davison; great-grandchildren, Tony Breecher, Brian Siegle, Jason, Tyson, Bryce and Byron Sullivan, Vincent, John, Kenneth, Cynthia and Sheri Vangilder, James, Joseph and Ashley Bower; great-great-grandchildren, Rachel, Kaylie, Sarah and Miranda; several nieces and nephews; daughter-in-law, Hazel Atkin. She was preceded in death by her husband, son, Jack, brothers and sisters.
