Paul Rick, 83, a resident of Lake Ida, near Pelican Rapids, MN, passed away Sunday, April 15, 2018 at his home.

Paul George Rick was born April 6, 1935 in Breckenridge, MN to I.T. and Lillian (Holecek) Rick. He grew up on a farm by Everdale, near Wahpeton. He worked as a telephone lineman and in grain elevators at age 15. He began as a manager of grain elevators at age 21. He married Nona Boesen on July 5, 1957 at Breckenridge, MN. They had two daughters: Shannon (Everett P.) Erickson and Carmen (friend Craig Severson) Rick. He managed grain elevators until 1968 when he began working as an electrician with his brothers. He earned his master electrician license and started his own company Lakes Electric in 1974. His business card said, “Have plier, will wire.” He owned and operated Lakeland Electric, Inc for many years. He also built houses in Minnesota and Texas. Paul officially retired three times.

Paul collected and restored 46 International tractors. He enjoyed showing them at Rollag and driving them in the parades. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He had a boat at Lake of the Woods for 27 years. He helped start the Lake Ida Landowners Association and loved living at the lake.

He was a member of St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church and Rollag Steam Threshers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, I.T. and Lillian Rick; brothers: Michael, Ed, I.A., Gerald, and Joe Rick; sister Arlene Stockmoe.

Paul is survived by his wife Nona, Lake Ida; daughters: Shannon (Everett P.) Erickson and Carmen (friend Craig Severson) Rick, both of Pelican Rapids; granddaughter, Sommer (Bob) Dow, 4 great-grandchildren: Izaiah (Talia) Moberg, Grace Moberg, Tricia Dow and Megan Dow, one great-granddaughter Nevaeh Dow; brother, John (Ginny) Rick; sisters: Dorothy Kotalik, Rose Anne Brink, and Mary Jane (Fred) Crafton, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Friday, April 20, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church, rural Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.

Funeral Mass: 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 21, 2018, at St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church

Clergy: Father Bob LaPlante

Burial: St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Cemetery, rural Detroit Lakes Minnesota in the spring
