Mr. Annis died Wednesday, April 11, 2018 in Abernathy.
James was born on March 2, 1935 in East Texas to Jesse & Ruby (Gaines) Annis. He married Dana Smith on March 1, 1969 in Abernathy and together they shared over 49 years of marriage. They moved to Abernathy from Petersburg in the late 1970s. Mr. Annis, or "Apple" as he was known to his grandkids, drove a truck for Southwestern Public Service until retiring in 1996.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Scotty Annis.
He is survived by his wife, Dana Annis, of Abernathy, 3 children Tammy Sherman and husband, Kelly, of Hartley, TX, Stacy Perry and husband, Spencer, and Hollie Vasquez and husband, Adam, all of Lubbock, 4 grandchildren Kyley, Joshua, Malaycia, and Zachary, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family suggests memorial donations be sent to ResCare, 11005 Quaker Ave., Lubbock, TX 79424.
