James Rogers MITCHELL was my 3rd-Great-Grandfather on my Mother's side. A son of William Mitchell (1751-1850), he married Mary Elizabeth Bacon in Washington County, Tennessee, on 8 November, 1825. She was the daughter of James M. and Magdalena (Neumann)Bacon. The Kentucky Record, 1852-1963, indicates James MITCHELL died on 4 June, 1878, even though his tombstone marker states he died 7 June, 1878.
