Althea Josephine Graves, 93, of Dodge Center, Minnesota died August 1, 1990, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota, where she had been a patient for one week.

Born July 1, 1897, in Dodge County, Hayfield, Minnesota, she was the daughter of Charles and Agnes Hagen Peterson. She attended Hayfield area schools. On February 23, 1921, she married Byron Graves at her parent's home. A retired homemaker, she was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Hayfield, Minnesota, and was active in church groups and the Helping Hand Neighborhood Club.

Survivors include one daughter Mrs. Ronald (Carol Ann) Marquardt of Dodge Center, Minnesota; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one sister, Luella Hemingway of Hayfield, Minnesota; and Minnie Pearson who came to live with them at the age of 14 and made her home with the Graves family for several years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Byron, one daughter in infancy, two brothers and one sister.

Services were held Saturday, August 4, at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Hayfield, with Rev. Wade Davick officiating. Visitation was held from 4 to 9 p. m. Friday and one hour before service at the church. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, Hayfield.

Vernon Funeral Services was in charge of arrangements.

Casket Bearers were: James Hemingway, Cleo Mogen, Clinton Peterson, Richard Hemingway, Glenn Pesch and Coler Peterson.
