Betty J. Shipley, 82, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Sunday, April 8, 2018, at Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic.

Betty Joe was born on June 15, 1935, in Fairfax, Missouri, the daughter of Charles R. and Nellie A. (Stewart) Slemp. She was baptized at the Lutheran Church in Council Bluffs. Betty attended school in Rock Port, Missouri, graduating with the Class of 1953. Following high school, she worked various jobs in the Tarkio, Missouri, area for a couple of years before making Council Bluffs home in 1961.

In 1955, she was united in marriage to Orville Campbell. Three children were born to this union: Rose, Joseph and Bonny.

In 1968, she was united in marriage to George Worrall. In the late 1970’s they moved to the Atlantic area. While living in Atlantic she worked at the Hawkeye Café, until it closed; she then started with the Atlantic Care Center for several years. Later, she cooked at Willow Heights in Atlantic, until she had to retire due to her failing health. During her retirement she did small jobs and whatever she could to help others.

In 1994, she was united in marriage to Ronald Shipley in Atlantic. The couple loved to work in their large flower and vegetable gardens. She was an avid animal lover and her dogs and cats meant the world to her. In her younger years she enjoyed riding horses and fishing. Time inside was spent putting puzzles together, coloring in adult color books, and spending time doing anything involved with cooking.

Betty will be deeply missed by her husband, Ron Shipley of Atlantic, IA; daughters, Rose Campbell of Atlantic, IA, and Bonny Campbell of Mitchell, NE; grandchildren, Jay (Michelle) Stuetelberg of June Lake, CA, April Campbell of Council Bluffs, IA, and Misty (Thomas) Ginapp of Afton, OK; great-grandchildren, Jordan Grandgeorge, Desire Stuetelberg, Micah Stuetelberg, Jordan Campbell, Jayden Campbell and Emmalee Costanzo; brother, Bill (Arlene) Slemp of Sturgeon, MO; step-children, Tina Mitchell of Springfield, MO, Kari (Mark) Lachacz of Grimes, IA, and Jenny (Charles) Hart of Miami, OK; step-grandchildren, Jacob, Madison and Kyleigh Lachacz of all of Grimes, T.J.
