Much beloved player and friend, Mr. Jeron Lewis, 21, collapsed and died while participating in a basketball game against Kentucky Wesleyan. The outstanding young man and athlete, #40, energized the University of Southern Indiana basketball team by averaging more than 12 points per game and eight rebounds.

Jeron Lewis attended North Side High School where he was a star athelete as well. Cousins Alisha Lewis Walker and Shelida Lewis, spoke of Jeron's giving spirit and respect for others. Jeron Lewis gave of us time, and volunteered to read to young children. His memorial service at the PAC Arena was attended by teammates, classmates, university staff and a supportive crowd of 1,900 well-wishers. Mr. Lewis is survived by his infant son, Jamel Lewis; his loving mother, two sisters and brother; and his fiance. His Going Home Celebration was held at the Lighthouse Deliverance Cathedral at 1413 South Hanna St. Arrangements by Nelson Memorial Gardens, Inc.


Those desiring to give, may make donations to the Jamel Lewis Educational Fund at any Old National Bank in the continental U.S., in the name of Mr. Jeron Lewis.

Burial is reported to be in the Lindenwood Cemetery, which is not included in Findagrave's lists.
