Lillie Mae Thompson-Bolen-Hatfield, 42, died on Tuesday, March 24, 1953 at her home at Oak Grove after suffering a cerebral hemorrhage (per WV Certificate of Death #4011 Dist #410 Serial #188, Raleigh County, WV, 1953).

Born September 18, 1911 at Pipestem to the late Joe Thompson (Deceased) and Lina Thompson (Deceased), she has been a resident of the county all her life. She was preceded in death by her first husband, George Alexander Bolen Sr. (1889-1941) whom she married on June 4, 1928 in Besoco, Raleigh County, WV (per WV Marriage License Register, Raleigh County, WV, 1928, Page 90, Application Date: June 4, 1928); and her sons, George Alexander Bolen Jr. (Deceased), Charles Eria Bolen (1935-1947), Frank Bolen (Deceased), and Eddie Bolen (Deceased).

She is survived by her husband, Fred Marvin Hatfield (1904-Deceased) whom she married on July 15, 1952 (per WV Marriage License Register, Raleigh County, WV, 1952, Page 316, Application Date: July 18, 1952); her children, Alpha "Myrtle" Bolen Meadows (1931-Deceased) of Mabscott, Versie Marie Bolen-Crouse (1933-2018) of Shady Spring, Shirley Jean Bolen-McKinney (1938-Deceased), Cora Athlene Bolen-Bays (B. 1940), Carrie Mae Bolen-Bolen (1942-Deceased), and Delbert Theodore Bolen (B. 1947); two stepdaughters, Lena Hatfield-Smith of Beckley and Alda Hatfield-Hatcher of Rhodell; her brothers and sisters, Charlotte Thompson-Dickson of Josephine, Dora Thompson-Lilly, of Crab Orchard; Mrs. Vestil Buchanan of Stevenson, Maude Thompson-Parker, of MacAlpin, Wilson Thompson of Ravencliff, Oscar Thompson and Irvin Thompson, both of Princeton.

The body will be removed from the Melton Mortuary Friday, March 27, 1953 at 4:00 p.m. to the residence at Oak Grove. Funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 28, 1953 at the Odd Mountain Valley Church with the Rev. John Spencer officiating. Burial will be made in the church cemetery.
