Dan Stuart Austin, 71, of Rochester, IL. died Friday, Dec. 6, 2013 at his home. He was born on Feb. 3, 1942, in Quincy, a son of Harlan and Fern Billingsley Austin. He grew up in West Point, IL, and graduated from Bowen High School with the class of 1960. Dan married Chris Mower on Dec. 10, 1990, in Kentucky.
He is survived by his wife, Chris; sons, Doug (Peggy) Austin of Quincy and Chance Austin of Rochester; four grandchildren, Amanda, Kelsey, Dylan and Emma; a brother, Allan (Yvonne) Austin of Beardstown; two sisters, Jean (John) Dreckmeier of Burlington, Iowa, and Judy (Rod) Wartick of Bowen; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a son Dean.
Rev. Tom Mehaffy held a graveside service on Tuesday, Dec. 10, at West Point Cemetery near West Point.
Memorials are being given to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
