Charles R. Abernathy, 87, of Branson died Tuesday, Nov. 1, 1994 at Kissee Mills. He was born July 10, 1907 in Zalma. He was married March 13, 1929 to Erie Humphrey, who died Jan 3, 1970.

Mr. Abernathy developed Gateway Subdivision in Branson and also was involved in other development of the Branson area. He was an Army veteran of World War II and served in the Battle of the Bulge and the Normandy Invasion.

Surviving him are a daughter, Charlene Hill of Bunker; two grandsons; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a niece, Glenda Tucker of Kissee Mills.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Stevinson-Rekus Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Stevinson-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia with Bro. Lee Todd officiating. Burial was in Union Cemetery near Iberia. Memorials may be made to the College of the Ozarks.
