Mr. Steven Jack Archbold, 74, of Springfield, Ohio passed away at 4:48 am on March 28, 2018 at Springfield Regional Medical Center after a long illness.Born April 18, 1943, in Fort Wayne, he was the son of Robert J. and Evelyn M. (Elder) Archbold.He spent his life around Ossian in his younger years. He lived on the farm in Uniondale and graduated from Ossian High School in 1961. He joined the Army on Nov. 17, 1966 and did a tour overseas. He worked at International Harvester in Fort Wayne and that is where he met his sweetheart, Barbara Kay (Harmon) Archbold, who survives. They were married November 1, 1969. They spent a few years in Fort Wayne till Harvester moved to Springfield, Ohio.There they raised their daughters, living in Enon and then Springfield. He retired from Navistar with 40 years of service, He was a member of the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was loved by many and will be missed by all.Survivors include his wife, Barbara Kay, two daughters, Cherie Madder and Stephanie (Lee) Japs; one sister, Linda Brown and four grandchildren, Hannah, Jack, Kailey and Bella. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Michael Thomas Archbold. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2018 from 2-3 pm in the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1801 St. Paris Pike, Springfield. A celebration of Steve's life will begin at 3 pm with Pastor Daniel M. Powell officiating and military honors to follow.
